How Long Does It Take To Make Money Blogging
After asking hundreds of bloggers via survey how long it took them to start making money with their blogs, over 63% of those who got back to me said it took them, 9-12 months. 37% said it took them 6-9 months so I decided to dig in deeper by asking the latter percentage how?
The answers I got were similar, they used email marketing, they promoted on social media, they had their own products, they did SEO, and they created content almost daily.
63% used affiliate marketing, they promoted on social media, created content 2-3 times per week, and Adsense to generate income on their blogs. Both parties used affiliate marketing and promoted on social media but the 37% generated income faster due to more marketing strategies.
Another interesting statistic I was able to gather from the survey was that 37% of the participants enrolled in blogging courses before starting their blogs while 63% relied on free information found online.
My last question was how much did they make within the 1-year time frame, 63% made between $500-and $1000 while 37% made between $1000 and $3000.
How To Make Money From Your Blog Faster
One of the best ways to make money from your blog faster is to stop making common blogging mistakes new bloggers tend to make. Below are traits of all successful bloggers that earn a full-time income from their blogs. Number #1 is the foundation of a successful blog.
They Have A Niche & Plan
A niche is a sub-topic of a broader topic. Search engines can easily understand a blog’s purpose and rank it better when all of its content is around a specific niche. Creating a blog around a broader topic, in the beginning, can prolong its progress with search & social.
Most successful bloggers start their blogs around a specific niche and branch out once they are well established. They also have a plan when it comes to blog monetization. Niching down also helps you understand who your target audience is.
They Have A Content Strategy
A content strategy is creating content to fit a specific audience with the end game in mind. You must first have a goal for the outcome of your content. If your goal is to create awareness, get leads or sell a product, your content should be structured as such.
Not having a content strategy set into place from the beginning will have you running around in circles. Most successful bloggers use content calendars and planners to map out their audiences and structure their content to fit their audiences. This is a very smart move and ensures the success of a blog.
If you visit some of the top blogs online right now, you will find an opt-in form somewhere on their site. It could be within their posts, in a popup, in the sidebar, or fill your screen when you try to leave. They always have some sort of enticing free offer related to their niche to get you to fill in your email address.
If they don’t get the sale, they get the email. It’s either one of the two and sometimes both! If you are not collecting emails and building your list of targeted people to market to, you are leaving so much money on the table!
You need to start building your email list as soon as your blog is live. It should be your #1 money-making strategy for your blog to ensure long-term success.
They Create Content Regularly
Data shows that 67% of blogs that publish content daily make the most amount of money. You see, search engines make money from content creators and if you can give them quality content to serve their queries, they will reward you with traffic and we all know that traffic=money!
Realistically speaking as a new blogger, you won’t be able to put out that much content, it’s just not possible. You can only produce quality content faster around a certain topic or niche when you’ve gained experience.
Another fact is that these blogs that publish content daily actually have paid writers to do the work for them. So your goal as a new blogger is to publish at least 3 unique pieces of content every week.
They Rank In Search
You see, these successful bloggers have teams and tools set in place to grab every keyword available in their niche to create content around. They also have these huge teams of writers who create SEO-rich content that gets ranked almost instantly.
They have thousands of backlinks to their blogs from years of creating quality content so how in the world can new bloggers compete with something like that right? You can compete by doing your keyword research and choosing keywords with little to no competition.
They Have Products
To go from a few hundred bucks a month blogging to becoming a six-figure blogger you need to have your own products to sell! If you take a look at some six-figure online today, they all make money from their own products. Every piece of content they create is aimed toward landing a sale or an op-tin.
Not creating products or building an email list is why most bloggers don’t make enough money to live their dreams. Now before you start wondering if you are qualified to create your own products, start with an ebook. A simple low priced ebook that covers a topic relevant to your blog niche.
Something like 500 ways to do this or 100 remedies for that, anything that can help your readers solve their problem. It just needs to be helpful and full of value.
They Do Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is the #1 way to make money online and trust me when I say that every successful blogger online is promoting affiliate products. In fact, it’s how they started making money with their blogs from the very beginning.
you need to consider affiliate marketing to be able to make money with your blog! Find a product that helps your audience solve a problem and start monetizing your blog right away.
They Are Everywhere (the 20/80 rule)
One thing most successful bloggers have in common is how popular they are on social media. They are everywhere! I’m talking about Facebook, Youtube, Pinterest, Twitter, Tiktok, Instagram, e.t.c You see, in the blogging world, there is something called the 20/80 rule.
It means that you need to spend 20% of your time creating and 80% of your time promoting. The more shares your content gets on social media, the higher search engines will rank your content. But they didn’t start out that way, as their blogs grew, they hired people to grow and manage their social media accounts.
Now as a new blogger, trying to build audiences everywhere will drain you and not all of them will work for your niche. But as you begin to share content on these platforms, you will be able to weed out which ones work for your business and which ones don’t.
Why Do Blogs Fail To Make Money
New bloggers fail due to a lack of knowledge and experience. To run a successful blog requires patience, hard work, testing, and tweaking. There has to be a strategy set in place for a blog to succeed. You see, most aspiring and new bloggers create blogs without having a blog plan.
Also, some people just can’t afford to spend the initial 6 months researching and writing blog posts without seeing results. It discourages them and they give up! You see blogging is similar to building a real business from scratch.
How Much Time Does Blogging Require
This is a question I get asked a lot, it’s simple, the more time you put into your blog, the faster you will begin to see results. If you can spare 2-3 hours per day on your blog, it could take you 9-12 months to see results. If you give it 5-8 hours a day, it could take 6-9 months to see significant results.
Now some people simply don’t have more than 2 hours per day to spare and that’s okay, every minute you spend on your blog will get you one step closer to your goal.
Blogging is a real business and it needs to be treated as such, it requires a lot of work. I recommend you use all your free time creating quality content, building your email list, learning all you can about affiliate marketing, and promoting your blog on social media.
How Long Does It Take To Make $500 Per Month Blogging
It takes at least 6 months to start making your first $500 dollars per month blogging. This is due to the fact that it takes at least 2 months to get your site indexed and ranked by search engines especially if you are targeting a low competition niche.
Secondly, you need to have the right blog monetization strategy set into place to start earning and that requires learning and setting up. Thirdly, you need to drive traffic to your blog which means, you need high-quality content to rank in search or grow an audience on social media.
How Do Beginner Bloggers Make Money
Most beginner bloggers make money through Google Adsense. Google AdSense is an ad network owned by Google. Once approved, bloggers can place ads on their blogs and generate income monthly.
To get approved, you will need to get through the sandbox period and have up to 30 blog posts, before your blog can meet google Adsense requirements and you can start showing ads on your blog. This usually takes around 2 months to complete.
What Is The Fastest Way To Make Money Blogging
In my experience, the fastest way to make money blogging is through affiliate marketing or CPA marketing. As I mentioned above, it takes 2 months to get indexed and at least 30 pieces of content to get approved for Google ads.
With affiliate marketing though, you can signup with affiliate marketing programs from day one of starting your blog and start promoting products right away. For this to work though, you will need to learn how to promote your content using social media to get traffic.
But is this a good monetization strategy? No, because the time you take to start promoting from day one should be the time you spend building up your blog for long-term success.
Is It Hard To Make Money Blogging
Yes, it is very hard to make money blogging initially and that is why most bloggers fail. Blogging requires a lot of work just like everything else. That said, if you have a solid blog monetization strategy set in place, you can start making money with your blog in less than 6 months.
